Johannes Olbort, project manager at the Forschungskuratorium Maschinenbau e.V. (FKM) of the VDMA , is responsible for harmonization activities including OPC UA for Machinery. This is done in the area of OPC UA, which also includes the development of the so-called "Global Production Language", in which more than 600 companies worldwide participate. This makes it an important contact for the international machinery and plant engineering industry when it comes to OPC UA standardization and intelligent production. Through close cooperation with numerous companies from the machinery and plant engineering sector, he represents their wishes and requirements in the Industrie 4.0 ecosystem. The strong international political networking of the VDMA has made it possible to introduce OPC UA activities into global politics. Before joining the VDMA, Mr. Olbort studied industrial engineering, majoring in mechanical engineering, and was a research assistant at the Technical University of Darmstadt, specializing in virtual product development and computer science.
